And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” — Luke 2:8-12
The pastor at my college service spoke on this passage last night. He pointed out the emphasis on the angel speaking to the shephards in a personal way. The angel told them “I bring YOU good news…” and “Today… a Savior has been born to YOU.” This is just more evidence that our God is a personal God and He wants a relationship with YOU.

How cool! Yesterday in my devotional I was reading
Luke 1: 28 “And he came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!”
I thought, “This is so neat!” The angel approached her with a greeting she was accustomed to (even though she was still frighten).
God is a personal God, and I thank Him for that!

Don’t you love the simplicity of God’s Word and how personal our God is and wants to be with us.
